What is the PTA?

PTA’s mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. The National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) comprises millions of families, students, teachers, administrators, and business and community leaders devoted to the educational success of children and the promotion of family engagement in schools. PTA is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit association that prides itself on being a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for families and communities, and a strong advocate for public education. Membership in PTA is open to anyone who wants to be involved and make a difference for the education, health, and welfare of children and youth. (pta.org)

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) plays a vital role in the success of a school. It provides a platform for parents, teachers, and school administrators to come together, collaborate, and advocate for the best interests of the students. Through the PTA, parents have an avenue to voice their opinions and be involved in the decision-making process of the school. PTA also support the school in many other ways, such as organizing social events and family-oriented activities, advocating for the needs of students at the district and state level, and helping to fund school enrichment activities and programs. The PTA helps to create a sense of community and foster a supportive network that strengthens the overall school culture and promotes school spirit.

Levels of Involvement

Pay Dues - Your membership dues directly supports the school, teachers, events, and your child by contributing to the PTA's operating budget. This helps cover the costs of running the PTA, as well as the costs associated with providing resources for teachers, hosting events and providing resources for the school.

Volunteer - Sign up to help with social events, fun run, art show, Bagel Fridays and other exciting activities, or take on a role within the PTA. Volunteering your time helps the PTA by allowing us to host more events and provide more resources to the school. Show your support and give back to the school community.

Board Member - As a board member for the PTA, you will have an opportunity to take on a leadership or supporting role to assist in the functioning of the organization. Your responsibilities will include working with other board members to develop and implement PTA strategies, creating budgets, and attending meetings. You will also have the chance to provide input to the board to ensure the PTA is successful in achieving its goals. Additionally, you will be responsible for fundraising, publicizing events, and representing the PTA in the community. To see a list of open roles, click here.

Spread the word! Tell your friends and family about the PTA and why they should join. Share our events and announcements on social media and encourage others to get involved.
